Turner Classic Movies' Greatest Classic Films Collection: That's Entertainment DVD boxed set collects four movies on two double-sided discs, with top picture quality.
That's Entertainment
Join star hosts Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Jimmy Stewart, Liza Minnelli, Mickey Rooney, Elizabeth Taylor, Donald O'Connor, Peter Lawford, and Debbie Reynolds in a joyous celebration of MGM musicals, the Hollywood studio that practically invented the musical.
Starting from 1929's "The Broadway Melody," up to 1958's Academy Award-winning "Gigi", this collection of song, dance, out takes, and interviews will entertain the whole family. Featuring scenes from such American musical classics as "Singin' In the Rain," "Showboat" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" and a parade of stars, including Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Esther Williams, and Clark Gable.
That's Entertainment, Part 2
Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire present more golden moments from the MGM film library, this time including comedy and drama as well as classic musical numbers.
That's Entertainment III
This third installment of the "That's Entertainment" trilogy sets its sights on musical numbers from MGM's vast library of classics that never made it to the big screen, either because of their controversial subject matter or due to creative differences.
Includes Debbie Reynolds' solo performance cut from "Singin' in the Rain," Fred Astaire's flawless rehearsal footage, and a Lena Horne bubble-bath scene deemed too risqué. Features rare behind-the-scenes footage to show how MGM created the screen's greatest musicals.
Hosted by legendary stars: Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Lena Horne, Howard Keel, Ann Miller, Cyd Charisse, Mickey Rooney, Esther Williams and June Allyson.
That's Dancing
Executive producer Gene Kelly hosts this extravagant celebration of dance that features some of his greatest screen work, as well as performances that range from Baryshnikov to break dancing, Fred and Ginger to Shirley Temple and Bojangles, and Busby Berkeley spectaculars to Michael Jackson music videos.
Written, produced, and directed by Jack Haley Jr., who performed the same duties creating the legendary That's Entertainment! in 1974, That's Dancing! follows a similar structure. Kelly, joined by co-hosts Ray Bolger, Sammy Davis Jr., Mikhail Baryshnikov and Liza Minnelli, set the stage for clips from the peerless M-G-M musicals, also featuring landmark moments of dance on film from virtually every studio in the industry, adding more fun and glorious surprises.
This cinema anthology spanning eight decades of dance has boundless energy, unending artistry and "no shortage of showstoppers" (Entertainment Weekly).
