The first in a trilogy of films based on the enduring masterpiece, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who - along with the Wizard Gandalf and 13 Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield - is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebro from the fearsome Dragon Smaug.

Their journey will take them into the Wild, through treacherous lands inhabited by Goblins, Orcs and deadly Wargs, as well as a mysterious and sinister figure known only as the Necromancer. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

The adventure continues as Bilbo Baggins, the Wizard Gandalf and 13 Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, journey to reclaim the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. As they head East, they encounter the skin-changer Beorn and giant spiders in the treacherous forest, Mirkwood.

Escaping capture by Wood-elves, they travel to Lake-town and finally the Lonely Mountain, where they face their greatest danger - a terrifying creature that will test their courage, their friendship and the wisdom of the journey itself -- the Dragon Smaug.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Having reclaimed Erebor and vast treasure from the dragon Smaug, Thorin Oakenshield sacrifices friendship and honor in seeking the Arkenstone, despite Smaug's fiery wrath and desperate attempts by the Hobbit Bilbo (Martin Freeman) to make him see reason.

Frodo Baggins and the Fellowship continue their quest to destroy the One Ring and stand against the evil of the dark lord Sauron. The Fellowship has divided; they now find themselves taking different paths to defeating Sauron and his allies. Their destinies now lie at two towers - Orthanc Tower in Isengard, where the corrupted wizard Saruman waits, and Sauron's fortress at Barad-dur, deep within the dark lands of Mordor.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
