Arguably the most popular and recognizable adversary of the Doctor, Daleks first appeared in 1963 in the Doctor Who serial "The Daleks". These cyborg aliens strike violently to exterminate other forms of life and are portrayed as without mercy or pity. Three gold-colored Daleks designated Dalek Caan, Dalek Jast and Dalek Thay faced the Doctor as members of the Cult of Skaro in the show's "Time War" story line.'
