Clint Eastwood returns for his third Callahan Caper, joined this time by a new partner, Tyne Daly as Inspector Kate Moore, who has two jobs: tracking down the terrorists - and winning Harry's confidence. Stoked with brisk humour, hard-hitting mayhem and the high-impact team of Eastwood and Daly, this exciting outing carves another winning notch in the handle of Harry's .44 magnum.

Sudden Impact

Sensitive to outcries of police brutality, the superiors of San Francisco Detective Harry Callahan have sent him on an out-of-town assignment until things cool down. But wherever Harry goes, things just get hotter. Clint Eastwood hits the mark again in Sudden Impact, which he also directs.

Harry's older and dirtier, and the world hasn't gotten better. Which means this fourth Dirty Harry movie is explosively exciting, as Callahan tracks a traumatised rape victim (Sondra Locke) coldly gunning down her bygone attackers. Through the five Callahan films, the lawman always struck a powerful chord. But Sudden Impact is particularly potent, fuelled by the line that became a notional catchphrase: "Go ahead. Make my day."

The Dead Pool

Fame isn't San Francisco Detective Harry Callahan's style. He'd rather not be lumped in with a rocker, a film critic and a talk-show host. They're slain celebrities named in a mysterious betting pool. And Harry just joined the list. Clint Eastwood straps on his holster again for the fifth and final Callahan caper. This time Harry's new partner is a karate wiz.

The Mafia goons sworn to snuff Harry now scramble to protect him. And in the nuttiest City by the Bay vehicular chase since Bullitt, Harry puts pedal to the metal to outrace a bomb-carrying, radio-controlled toy car. It's a great showcase for two future stars: Jim Carrey is marvellous as an ill-fated heavy-metal musician and Liam Neeson hits the mark as a power-tripping director. For hard-hitting action, dive into this cool pool.
